object inspired piece

A ring. A simple band of metal wrapped around ones finger. An accesory, rather useless. Yet nothing holds quite the same sentimental value that a ring does. A ring can symbolize a promise, a secret or a passion. A ring can show ones social status, social groupings, general interests and hobbies. A ring can show the state of someones heart. A ring can be a simple band, or an unbreakable bond. Gold and diamond to tin, yet the meaning behind it is priceless. Thats why nothing means as much to me as the ring given to my by someone very special. Its rather simple, cheap and heavy. But for some reason i wouldnt trade it for the biggest diamond in the world unless it was given to me by her.

It was a surprise present. She was very excited to give it to me and i was excited to find out what it was. i know her well and even that gave me no clue as to what it was. Shes spontanious and weird like that. Not that thats a bad thing, not at all. So all weekend she gave me no hints, she just mentioned it all the time. I wanted to see her and this surprise so badly, i was like a kid at toys r us. And that lasted for two whole crazy days. I barely had time to think and when i did my thoughts were dominated by her and this surprise. She just kept mentioning it without building it up or overselling it. Then, finally, Monday morning came around.i finally got to see her again. it was outside of the coir room that she placed the ring in the palm of my hand.

Its a promise ring. usually very simple with a meaning very deep. simple, steel, and deeply comforting. i loved it and i love her.
